Victoria Beckham & her DVB's

First, Victoria Beckham came out with a limited collection of denim for Rock& Republic jeans. Forwarding her limited collection's success, she started her own denim line, DVB. Her goal in the denim industry was to create a collection of denim that essentially combined both style and comfort while looking desirably gorgeous and glamourous. These jeans exude sex appeal. With amazing butt lifting powers (tried them, its for real.) Her jeans are a return to classic styling and bootleg fashion, and they are a denim worthy of your dollars. Victoria sure convinced me, I own 2 pairs, myself. Her denim feature the DVB logo or cute star on the back pocket, the range includes stonewash, dark wash and a celeb fave this season, the grey wash. They are indeed slim fitting and figure hugging, not recommended for sitting, eating or walking fast in but perfect for early spring wear with long boots, tight turtlenecks and the cutest of cropped leather jackets finding their way to catwalks and catalogues right now.

It's all in the detail with True Religion's

Since we all know that the fit comes first in jeans, then comes all about the details. True Religion Jeans is best known for having some very unique and trendy jeans. They have a great variety of styles and distressed looks in their jean line from the multiple patched look to distinct fraying. This Los Angelos based premium denim company has become known for its intense attention to detail: from the fashion-forward seams, to the remarkable embroidery and innovative hand-sanded vintage washes. True Religion brand Jeans have distinguished itself as a leader in the high-end denim market for men, women, and children. True religion jeans can be found in stores such as Bloomingdales, Saks fifth avenue and Nieman Marcus. But many people buy True religion jeans online because you can find it at a lower price online than in stores. You do have to be careful when purchasing this product because there are a lot of counterfeits out there and you do not receive the good quality you deserve. What you may have not known about true religions is that the styles are given different names, and among the different styles are Billy, Joey, Johnny, and Bobby. Each of these styles have their own unique design and they all have to meet certain requirements before they can be dubbed true religion jeans.

The Cut of It All...

A big hit this year is the high-waisted, wide-legged jean. It is more versatile than last year's fashionable leg-constricting skinny jean. Wide-legged jeans are comfortable and high waists are butt-flattering, so are likely to appeal to more women. But, just because they are in style doesn't mean they flatter EVERYONE's body shape. Here are a few other styles are still hot for this year.
The Wide-Leg Jean
If you're a bit self conscious about the length of your legs, the wide leg is great for elongating them. Just remember to team them up with very high heels or platforms to really lengthen your legs. I was a little wary about the wide-leg myself at first and thought they'd make me look disportioned. But you know, i felt like a 6ft supermodel in them! Wide legs also do wonders for minimizing a flat stomach. You’ll be surprised the effect is has on your figure if you swallow your pride and go for one size up. No more sausage squeezing denim; allow jeans to just skim over your curves rather than constrict them. Citizens for Humanity offer a wide leg collection in a very nice dark denim washes.

The Boot-Cut Jean
Boot-Cut jeans are the most common pair of jeans. Boot-cut jeans make the most of your curves and their wider hem deflects attention away from ample waists, hips and thighs. They also disguise large calves and make the legs look leaner. This classic style is best for the fuller figure, particularly if it has clean lines with minimal detailing and embellishments, which add unnecessary bulk. 7 for all Mankind are best known for their boot cut jeans. For a more trendy boot-cut, try True Religions Joey's. The thick stitching on Joey's create more a defined curve on the legs and bottom.

The Skinny Jean
Skinny Jeans
look best on long-legged boyish figures. Wear skinnies with ballet flats or ankle boots for an edgy look. Apple shapes (big busts and stomachs) should avoid skinny jeans are they accentuate the top half and make you look more like a duck. Due to their clingy nature, they can also accentuate big hips and a big butt. Tunic-style tops will cover chunky thighs and large hips, however. If you are short and petite, skip the skinny and try on a straight-legged.
The Straight-Legged Jean
Straight legged jeans are perfect for women who are brick-like in shape. With no waist and a boyish figure the loose leg, slouchy waist and large pockets are flattering on bigger sizes, especially bigger butts. Tone down the masculine effect with a feminine, fitted top or add a blazer. These jeans look effortlessly stylish worn with a pair of flat loafers.

Just because something looks good on someone else does not necessarily mean it will good on you. It's important to experiment and find your own style. I hope that this blog helped. Still confused!?! True Jeans website takes your exact measurements and compiles styles that fit your body.

"Ooh Girl, NO!"

Sometimes when females come into my store, I can't help but think "Ooh, Girl. What is up with those jeans!?!". I've practically seen it ALL. Girls whose jeans that are too short for their heels. They look like they stole their little sister's jeans. Girls with jeans that are fit on the leg, but gives them a saggy bottom. And my favorite, Girls with jeans that are WAY too tight, so it looks like their crotch is eating their pants. PLEASE, spare us of this, PLEASE. If you have the time and money, it is well worth it to buy your jeans from a specific denim store or a knowledgeable boutique. Stores like the one i work at Planet Funk and even department stores like Bloomingdales offer knowledgeable advice and have a great variety upon denim. Here are 3 important things, that I believe you should look out for when purchasing denim.

1. Baggy jeans are OUT. Jeans that are baggy around the knees or bottoms are a fashion disaster. The major point of jeans is to make those part of your body to look good. A good pair of flattering jeans has a bit of stretch to them, are narrow around the leg and gives shape to your bottom without squashing it down. I really like the fit of skinny jeans. They make your legs look lean and toned, and always works like Wonderbra but for your bottom.

2. Check the waistband. The waistband shouldn't be too thick and heavy because it'll dig into your hips. This causes the muffin top effect. (You know, when your love handles topple over your pants like when a muffin rises over the cupcake paper). Check also that the waistband doesn't give you that annoying gaping thing at the back, either, as you'll end up with that weird wind tunnel effect. Look for jeans cut higher at the back so not only do they not gape but also they don't give you a plumber's butt every time you sit down.

3. Get the Length Right. When trying them on, stand on your tippy-toes and then again with flat feet. This is so you can see how much length you will need if you choose to wear jeans with heels or flats. With heels, the bottom of your jeans should just skim your toes, as that will give you a good couple of inches of length to your legs so you don't look like a child playing dressing up in adult clothes. Your flat jeans should break almost at your toes. If you can afford it, it's good to have one pair of jeans for heels and one pair for flats.

Basic Info...

name: The Jean Guru

purpose: to introduce what's hot and not in the world of women's denim, today.

Jeans have become hugely important in a women's wardrobe and it's hard to think back to how we coped without them. I mean, what would we wear when going straight from work to a cool lounge? Or when running errands on a Sunday afternoon without having to worry about looking frumpy or getting our clothes dirty but still wanting to look half-good? i honestly can't remember. I believe, no other piece of clothing can be worn in so many different situations and can always look good.

I've been working in a retail store in San Francisco that specializes in luxury denim for quite some time, now. Denim is more than just cut nowadays, its all about accents of details, stitching, and even alternative fabrics that can be used. So, what's hot this season? Whose wearing what kinds of jeans? With all these new styles of denim coming in, how do you distinguish what looks good on your own body? Don't worry, I am here to help! I guarantee you will be taking a second look at your own denim collections.
